Dyson vacuum cleaners as go-karts?
“Dyson car challenge” as the employees called it is an ingenious way for Dyson engineers to relax and have a little fun during working time. The challenge sounded: “create the fastest go-kart using a few Dyson spare parts and all the torque they could eke out from one of our handheld motors”.
Most of the contestants entered the event with a miniature and lightweight racer but there was even a full-blown go-kart built from vacuum cleaner parts running the field with a brave human driver on it. Even it didn’t have a bad performance at all. Too bad the crashes are cut out from the video. I don’t believe those vehicles have any brakes at all.
Of course the runs were timed like in a real drag race. Seems like everyone had fun and maybe they will incorporate the knowledge and experience they acquired during this competition into Dyson’s newest line of vacuum cleaner models.
