Milwaukee 2601-22 Cordless Drill
You can’t miss the brand Milwaukee when looking for professional tools for handymen. In contrary to the name Milwaukee tools are built in China but still that doesn’t mean they are not a reputable brand. Milwaukee tools have proven enough to include their most popular cordless drill, the Milwaukee model 2601-22 into our reviews list.
This 18-Volts Lithium-Ion battery powered cordless drill is also delivering all the important features the most high-end competitor products bring.
The first thing one realizes is the weight. To be exact, the absence of it. Thanks for the Li-Ion batteries and the high quality plastic materials used, together they contribute making this cordless drill weight only 4 pounds. The lightweight and compact design is appreciated when needed to drill in tight places or for an extensive period of time. However these features are mostly important for the professionals not much for a weekend DIY homeowner.
Another useful feature brought by the Miwaukee 2601-22 is the LED light built into the body of the drill. Provides visibility right where you need it, at the tip of the drill. Unfortunately the bulb is not too bright, doesn’t create much light and seen much better ones by far.
The two speed gearbox can’t be missed from a cordless drill in this price range either. This Milwaukee 18-Volts drill comes with a heavy-duty two-speed metal gearbox. The usual setup, which means one speed is suited for high torque but low speed jobs with the RPMs ranging from 0 – 350 RPM and one setting usable for high speed but lower torque cases with the RPM range of 0 – 1,400 RPM.
The maximum torque to be squeezed out from this 18-volt cordless drill is 400 inch-pounds.
The box includes the Milwaukee cordless drill itself, two Li-Ion batteries, a 30 minute charger and a carrying case. Would like to point out that the case is of an exceptional quality and a really practical addition to the drill kit. Also a very nice extra from the ergonomic point of view to have on a cordless drill is a belt hook, which is mounted on this tool by default, not having to buy it separately like with some other cordless drill brands.
The Lithium batteries compared to Ni-Cad the older cordless drills usually came with provide better recharge times, lighter weight and longer charge holding durability. They are better in every aspect than the old battery technology, try to avoid Ni-Cad batteries when buying cordless equipment and look for Li-Ion powered ones if the above mentioned features are important for you.
The chuck is key-less and very well balanced. It makes no unwanted vibrations which are often causing problems at some other drill models from other manufacturers. Overall this cordless drill is a good piece of an equipment, not the best on the market but still a great all around tool. Brings features most of the professional cordless drills bring and does everything to be a useful product usable for a wide variety of heavy duty jobs around the house or in the business.
